Spain's unemployment rate rose to 22.9 percent in the fourth quarter of this year, passing the five million mark, data from the National Statistics Institute showed on Friday, up from 21.5 percent in the previous quarter. The National Statistics Institute said 5.27 million people were out of work at the end of December.
